The dock, is large enough to accommodate a 30' motor boat and overlooks the bay. It is perfect for its close proximity to fishing or boat riding in the Gulf of Mexico : only 3 minutes away. The dock is also prefect for fishing, suntanning or just relaxing and taking in the incredible view and natural wildlife. One can view dolphins frolicking in the bay, an array of aquatic birds fishing and sunning themselves,an occasional Manatee comes meandering down the bayou. There is a small private beach and inlet on the property perfect to access the water for a leisurely swim, kayaking or paddle boarding (numerous rental outfits are in the area) down the mangrove lined bayou or out it's mouth into the aquamarine blue waters of the Longboat Pass. Bring your own boat or rent one locally to enjoy all that the Gulf Coast has to offer. Docking is available on site. Stroll through the village hugging the bay to the historic, waterfront restaurant Mar Vista serving local seafood and other delicious fare. Rent a bike or stroll through the village for a great breakfast with outdoor seating at the local Longbeach Cafe. A few miles south on Longboat, accessible by car or on the well maintained 14 mile long bike path, is the Center Shops with boutiques, Ciao Pizzeria, The Blue Dolphin Cafe and a massage center. A stones throw is the Award winning Euphemia Haye restaurant and The Haye Loft upstairs with a relaxing, popular bar that has live music and serves lighter fare and incredible desserts. Longboat Key is perfectly situated between Anna Maria and Sarasota. It has a quiet, exclusive feel but just minutes to so many area attractions. At the southern tip of the Key you can go for a great burger at the local Salty Dog and visit the world renown Mote Marine Laboratory with many attractions as well as the Sarasota Sailing Squadron that offers clinics and lessons. Then continue on to St. Armands Circle for great shops, lots of dining options, homemade chocolate and gelato and further south into downtown Sarasota.
Just north of Longboat Key you will find the award winning Coquina Public beach with playgrounds, a food kiosk, changing huts, showers and public restrooms. Five minutes north of the house is Bridge Street which is full of quaint shops, a fishing pier, numerous restaurants, our personal favorite is the Blue Marlin and across the street from beautiful, white sandy beaches. Across the bridge you will stumble upon the historic Cortez Fishing Village where you can buy great, fresh seafood by the docks and eat at another one of our favorite haunts, Tide Tables. There are boat rentals, parasailing outfitters , sunset sailing cruises and fishing excursions offered as well.
Further north down the beach is Anna Maria, another quaint area with yummy food, fishing piers and the Award Winning Beach Bistro Restaurant situated right on the beach overlooking The Gulf Of Mexico, perfect for a special occasion.
There are many other superb vacation attractions in the greater Sarasota area - back bay and deep gulf fishing, the Sarasota Ballet; the Sarasota Opera; the Sarasota Orchestra (New Florida West Coast Symphony), Asolo Repertory Theater; the John and Mable Ringling Museum and Ca' d'Zan Mansion; the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens; the Sailor Youth Circus; the Sarasota Jungle Gardens; the annual sea turtle hatch, boating; diving, golf, major league baseball spring training; the annual 4th of July Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix Festival; St. Petersburg/Tampa is just 50 minutes to the north with the Dali Museum and numerous other attractions.

The property itself and the location were breathtaking. It was just the two of us for our 25th anniversary for the week, but it could easily accommodate a family with three more people or another couple. We rented a boat for the week and docked it at the house. It was so much fun exploring the area. The views from the upper porch were incredible and sitting on the lower dock observing the wildlife up close was wonderful. Everything one could want for cooking and day to day life is at your fingertips. Many great restaurants and beautiful beaches. We have been to the area several times, and would gladly return to this house again. Kristin was very responsive with the booking and Barbara was there to greet us and was very welcoming and accommodating. Thank you for sharing it!
