Restaurant Feature: Sage Biscuit Café

It’s official! Sage Biscuit Café is a chain with two locations! There is no better way to start the day than after a good meal. If you don’t mind driving over one of the bridges, the Sage Biscuit Café has one of the best breakfasts or brunches within 10 miles of the island.

Where’s the Sage Biscuit Café Located?

For anyone who has never been to the Sage Biscuit, it must be on your list of restaurants to hit while on vacation. The first location, at 6656 Cortez Road in the Cortez Village Shopping Center, always draws a crowd. It is one of the few places that always draws a crowd. People wait an hour for a table because the food is worth the wait.

Last week, the second location became a reality when it opened for business. The new spot is in Downtown Bradenton at 1401 Manatee Avenue in the Bradenton Financial Center. And, just like the original restaurant, this location is just as good. According to a recent Bradenton Herald article, the plans are for the menu to “remain mostly the same, though the Moretas and Praessel (the owners) may add sandwiches or other fare for the lunchtime crowd.”

Sage Biscuit MenuSpeaking of the Sage Biscuit Menu

Where shall we start? The most notable food at the Sage Biscuit is probably the sage biscuits. There is nothing like them – warm with soft butter. They are so good. From there, the Sage Biscuit menu features so many things that people love – love to the point where they need their Sage Biscuit “fix.” What that fix is depends on the person who needs it.

Breakfasts Worth Noting

One of the most popular orders is Eggs Benedict. Unlike the traditional order, eggs and hollandaise are placed on top of sage biscuits taking this favorite to a whole new level! The breakfast skillets are also delectable and offer guests the ability to have what they love in a skillet from eggs with roasted potatoes, sausage, ham, veggies, and loads of cheese. There is pretty much a vegetarian and vegan option for each breakfast.

On top of the favorites, there are always specials that are delectable – think Grouper Oscar Benedict and Pumpkin Pie Stuffed French Toast. It’s kind of like if there is a will there is a way to create anything anyone has in mind!

Vegans and Vegetarians are Happy Too

Another feature that makes the Sage Biscuit so popular is that it offers vegan and vegetarian options for those who do not eat gluten, meat or. In fact, the Sage Biscuit is one of a very few places that offer gluten-free pancakes. Everyone loves pancakes so it is a huge bonus that they make it possible for those who can’t eat them at most places to have them. They are out of this world too.

Other vegan and vegetarian favorites include the Southwestern Vegan Skillet. It is a wonderful combination of black bean chili, roasted corn, and potatoes with “scrambled” tofu and topped with guacamole and salsa. This is just the tip of the ice berg!

Sandwiches and Salads Too!

One of the most popular items on the Sage Biscuit Café menu is the Jalapeno-Bacon Lettuce Wedge. This is one of those things on a menu that people crave and have a desire to “need” it. Restaurants do not often get this kind of response from something they serve. Oh, and let’s not forget the Fried Green Tomato Grilled Cheese Sandwich – no need for further explanation.

Run to Sage Biscuit!

Now that we have your attention, go – run – to Sage Biscuit Café. It is worth the trip and you have two locations from which you can choose. The hours are 7am – 3pm daily. Between the regular menu items and the specials on the chalkboard, there is something for everyone.

Here’s a tip: Go early in the week on your vacation because you’re going to want to go back.

ENJOY!!!
